Went hunting with Scott Shreve from Buffalo, WY. On our first morning we had a three hang up on the next ridge so we crawled in for a closer look. Scott found them and told me that they were 450 yards away. I told him I didn’t feel comfortable taking that shot with my rifle. He smiled and handed me his custom GA precision 6mm Crusader with a surpressor. ” Use my rifle.” I was stunned, needless to say I connected and not only was it my longest shot to date but my first time shooting suppressed. WOW ! Thanks, Scott!
Took one my wife’s students ( Daniel ) coyote hunting with my good friend , Jason. First stand this coyote came in after 10 minutes of cranking the Foxpro Fusion. Jason was right behind Daniel coaching him. The coyote skirted us and was trying to get down wind so Daniel had to make a 171 yard shot and connected. This was a great hunt and one he wont be forgetting anytime soon.
I got a chance to hunt in southern Missouri this Janurary with friend Dennis Riley. As we were walking into our first stand he noticed a coyote way out in a field. We tried to call it in but he wasn’t buying what we were selling. Eventually I had to take a shot. My longest so far at 291 yards. Great times!
Here is my good friend and hunting buddy, Jason Promisson. We went out early the other morning and called this young male in using pup-in -distress and coyote vocalizations on our e-caller. It came in so hard it was literally leaving a dust cloud trail as it approached the call. Jason stopped it at 20 yards with his 223 Howa. We would have continued on for more sets but the gnats were just too unbearable.
Max Akerman and Chris Hyle of Dead Oak Outdoors asked me to join them in a 24 hour coyote hunting contest up near Rockton IL this last January. We encountered 20 mile winds and freezing temperatures and no coyotes until our very last stand. Chris picked him out at about 150 yards but his gun jammed so I shot and missed but my follow up shot was true. I have never worked so hard for a coyote but it was all worth it and I got to hang out with some great guys! Looking forward to the next time! p.s. our coyote was 2 lbs. lighter than the winning coyote.
